Mehran Fanoos is a scholarship student pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, where he studies under the legendary violin pedagogue Mimi Zweig. He began his violin studies at the age of seven with William Harvey at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music (ANIM) and continued his violin education while living in New Delhi, India. Mehran has performed as a soloist and chamber musician, for the former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and was featured as a soloist with the ANIM Orchestra at the Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman. He collaborated with two-time Grammy Award-winning artist Ricky Kej and was selected to attend the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School. Mehran is also a founding member of the Fanoos Family Ensemble, a group that blends Afghan traditional music and Western instruments. The ensemble made its U.S. debut in 2022 and has since performed   at major venues including Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and the Perelman Performing Arts Center in New York.
