THE SILK ROAD ENSEMBLE

The Bloomington, Indiana-based Silk Road Ensemble is dedicated to the idea that music can inspire people to transcend their own cultural boundaries and embrace unfamiliar forms of artistic expression. Our performers hail from all over the world, and we regularly bring together maestros of traditional Silk Road regions who perform with U.S.-based artists to create exciting programs that meld East-West artistry and cultures. With music and, occasionally, dance performances, we showcase the traditional instruments and rich cultural heritage of the Silk Road regions, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Russia, the Arab world, Central Asia, China and the Mediterranean Europe. The Ensemble performs at universities, schools, concert halls, and festivals around North America.
